Sitting in a small cabin in the woods of north carolina, the sound of ice particles (sleet) hitting a stove-pipe can be heard. It's cold. It's bleak. The power has just cut off. The jingling wind chimes really get going towards the end of the recording. Occassionally a loud car drives by. A recording of a series of northwest wind gusts blowing through the bare december branches. A wind-chime adds some color, as well as a far-off train towards the end of the recording. Recording made on december 17th, 2014 with the zoom h4n recorder and using its internal, built-in stereo microphones with the record volume set on 82.

It's winter on vancouver island. The heavy and frequent rains engorge the lakes & streams and they flow into the cowichan river. Engorged by seasonal precipitation this large heritage river churns into a narrow bedrock canyon, turns, and comes out of the turn charging. This is where the recording was made, at river level. Recorded in january with a zoom h1 n, audio quality 48,000 hz. Unedited.
